BTS Intern Earns 2nd Place in 2011 ACP Awards for His Comic

BTS would like to congratulate our Intern John O’Neill on winning second place in the 2011 Associated Collegiate Press Cartooning Awards for his comic, “The Matching Socks”, published in Oakland University’s independent student newspaper, “The Oakland Post”!

The 2011 Cartooning Excellence Awards were accepted through online submission for the third consecutive year.  212 total entries were submitted in the Cartooning Awards, co-sponsored by Universal Uclick.  The entry total represents an increase of seven percent from 2010.  Entries were accepted in two categories: Editorial Cartoon and Cartoon Panel/Strip.  Cartoon entries were judged based on reader impact, community importance, artistic quality, originality and clarity of message.

An Instructional Design Intern and student by day, John is an avid doodler and cartoonist by night, and is very honored to receive the award, and greatly appreciates The Oakland Post for giving his comic strip a chance last year, and for all of his friends and family for their support and feedback.

Congratulations JTI!

And if that wasn’t enough hurdles to wrestle with, the class was taught in English, a language known worldwide for its elegance and simplicity, of course, much to the enjoyment of the non-English speaking participants from Asia and Italy.
